AION 2 Godstones: How to Get Them and What Engraving Does

AION 2 godstones explained — where they drop, the two effect families, how engraving works, why only the last engraving applies, and the 4-stone synthesis rule.

Godstones are AION 2's signature equipment augmentation: rare stones that socket into gear and grant it a combat proc. Get them right and your weapon gains a second personality.
Two Effect Families
Every godstone belongs to one of two camps:
- Damage stones — add a combat effect that amplifies your damage, from bonus strikes to boosted critical pressure
- Restraint stones — proc effects that immobilize or slow enemies, buying you the initiative at clutch moments
Beyond stats, some stones also confer distinctive visual effects on the weapon — the cosmetic tell of a serious endgame build.
Where Godstones Come From
Three channels, in rough order of reliability:
- Monster drops — regular kills carry a small godstone chance; farm dense packs or bosses for volume
- Dungeons and events — special content pays godstone rewards on completion
- The shop — certain currencies exchange directly for stones
Engraving: The Rules That Matter
Engraving consumes a godstone to embed its effect into a piece of equipment. The engraving window shows everything you need: the target item, the selected stone's info, your held stones, and — critically — these mechanics:
- Only the last engraving applies. Godstone effects do not stack; engraving a new stone overwrites the previous effect. Plan before you etch.
- Higher grade, stronger effect. A stone's level directly scales the power of what it grants.
- Engraved stones can be removed from equipped gear, so mistakes are reversible — at a cost.
- Synthesis: consume four held godstones for a chance to create one new (higher-potential) stone — the slot-machine path to upgrading your luck.
Godstones layer on top of the damage affix system and the enchantment economy described in the starter tips — together they're the full picture of endgame gear power.
