AION 2's World Is 36 Times Larger — and the Classic Zones Return

AION 2's map is 36 times the size of the original's, with classic zones like Poeta, Verteron and Ishalgen rebuilt in Unreal Engine 5 around a central Abyss.

Verdant highlands with floating wreckage — AION 2's zones are built at a scale the original never attempted.

The boldest number in AION 2's pitch is spatial: the game world measures roughly 36 times the size of the original's — a figure NC itself uses in the official Steam description — and it's not empty acreage. It's the old world, rebuilt and reconnected.

The Classics Come Home

The original's memorable starting regions return with their identities intact:

  • Elyos territory: Poeta, Verteron and Eltnen anchor the western half of the map
  • Asmodian territory: Ishalgen and Altgard hold the east
  • The Abyss sits between them as the central contested warzone

That means the classic faction geography survives: Elyos zones on one side, the Abyss in the middle, Asmodian zones on the other — the same mental map veterans carry from 2008, now rendered at a scale where seamless flight actually matters.

Why Scale Changes the Game

A 36x world turns travel into gameplay. Flight is no longer a shortcut between load zones but a tactical layer over zones designed for it, and the vertical map extends underwater too — with ocean combat part of the pitch for the global version.

New players shouldn't find the scale intimidating: the starter tips guide covers how early exploration is structured, and the leveling roadmap sequences the first zones.
