AION 2 Equipment System: Enhancement, Gear Levels & Tiers

How AION 2's equipment system works — gear level vs character level, the Enhance All panel, and the +10 Substance Morph ladder from Rare to Unique.
AION 2 runs gear progression on two counters. Your character level caps at 45; your gear level (GL) — the sum of every equipped piece's rating, shown at the bottom center of the screen — never stops climbing. A normal-paced run through the main story lands you around 900–1,000 GL, and from there the game gates its late content on gear: at 1,000 you enter Conquest expeditions, at 1,200 Transcendence stages open, at 1,800+ you qualify for the endgame tiers. Enhancing is how that number moves.
The Enhance All Panel
Open the menu and pick Enhance All: it lists every equipped piece plus your cube, alongside your stock of materials. Enhancing costs Kinah + Enhancement Stones — both flow in steadily from quests, dungeons and strongholds. Each +1 raises the piece's base gear level, which flows straight into your GL.
The panel carries four tabs — Enhance, Manastone, Theostone, Soul Binding — and three rules worth knowing before you click:
- Enhancement is safe. A failed enchantment does not destroy the item — the system is far more forgiving than most MMOs.
- Extraction refunds stones only. Pull enhancements out of a piece and you get 100% of your Enhancement Stones back — never the Kinah, manastones or theostones spent alongside them.
- Three pieces want a scroll. The Revelation Amulet, the Noble Belt and one more slot each require a dedicated Enhancement Scroll on top of stones and Kinah.
What to Enhance First
Enhancement costs scale fast, so spend where the stats never leave your build:
- Revelation Amulet and Noble Belt to +10. These two are permanent: the amulet rolls weapon damage boost and penetration (adding power shard damage bonus at Unique), the belt rolls HP potion recovery, HP and defense. They're also the two pieces that require their own Enhance Scrolls.
- Your weapon. Direct combat impact, and drops come slowly enough that a weapon sticks with you.
- Everything else, sparingly. Armor and jewelry get replaced as loot improves — keep their Kinah cost down because extraction won't pay it back.
The +10 Ladder: Rare → Epic → Unique
The amulet and belt follow a deliberate ladder: enhance the Rare version to +10, then use Substance Morph (Alt+H) to convert it into the base Epic version at level 0, enhance to +10 again, morph into Unique, and repeat once more. The morph screen shows the success chance up front — up to 100% — and some items, like the Daevanion Crystals and high-value Kina Chests, can only be obtained this way.
