AION 2's sealed dungeons and strongholds explained — the Daevanion-point content tier, Ascension Trial difficulties, raid entries and the item level gates.
Past the level-45 cap, AION 2 splits its instanced content into a sealed tier: Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds — the challenges that gate behind item level and pay the game's most valuable progression currency. They're the reason your gear level matters more than your level, and the reason the Daevanion boards fill on schedule.
What Seals the Content
Sealed dungeons and strongholds share two locks. The first is item level: Sanctum of Loathing (the Ascension Trial) opens at 1,000 on Easy, 1,500 on Normal and 2,000 on Difficult; the Beritra Brigade Fortress raid follows the same 1,000 / 1,500 / 2,000 ladder; the Dredgion Depot raid asks 2,000 for its 4-player run. The second lock is the entry structure itself — attempt counters (three per cycle on trials and raids), resurrection limits, and hard time limits like the trial's 14:00.
What They Pay
Two payouts make the sealed tier mandatory. First, Daevanion skill points: completing Sealed Dungeons and Strongholds awards the inventory item that grants board points — the same item that Regional quests pay — and those points push skills past their cap and unlock each board's orange special nodes. Second, score-tiered loot: the trial's Clear Rewards table scales from a 10+ score up to 1,500+, paying its currency, upgrade materials and chests by band — the stronger the clear, the richer the table.
Strongholds and the Raid Line
Strongholds are the fortified PvE set-pieces of the sealed tier — Balaur-held installations in the story's image, from the Dredgion Depot (a way station for the Balaur's flying battleships that bombard Daeva strongholds) to the Beritra Brigade Fortress. Raids run 4-player with matchmaking or a hand-picked room, apply their own buffs and debuffs, and pay kinah plus materials by the performance grade. How to Prepare
Work the ladder in order: daily dungeon entries for enhancement stones, expeditions for gear cubes, Transcendence stages at 1,200 and 1,800 — then spend the stones and walk into the sealed tier funded. The full unlock table lives in our equipment system guide.
