AION 2 Dimensional Assault: Portal Invasion Events Guide

What Dimensional Assault is in AION 2 — portal incursions that attack open regions, how defense events play out, and what participation pays.

Dimensional Assault is AION 2's open-world invasion content: dimensional portals open inside a live region, hostile waves pour through, and every player in the zone is invited to push them back. No ticket, no queue — the event comes to the map you're already on.
How an Assault Plays
An incursion announces itself zone-wide, then runs in waves: portal site, escort mobs, and a closing elite. Damage and participation are what count — you contribute by fighting anywhere along the wave line, not by tagging a single target. The event scales publicly, so an assault tends to self-organize: whoever is in the region converges on the marker, and the fight resolves with whoever showed up. Exact schedules and wave timing vary by region and server window (approximate, KR/TW build behavior).
Why Bother
Assaults pay the open-world loop's best effort-to-loot ratio. Participation rewards follow the same tables as region bosses — gear pieces, enhancement materials, kinah — and the event layer adds event tokens during active event windows, which convert at the redemption shops. Because entry is free and unticketed, an assault you're already standing in is free money; one you'd have to fly ten minutes for is a judgment call.

Where It Sits in the Week
Treat assaults as opportunistic, not scheduled: they fill the gaps between ticketed dungeon entries and the weekly caps. If you're leveling through a zone, an assault is a XP detour; if you're at the endgame GL wall, it's materials for the enhancement grind. Either way, the portal does the advertising — you just have to answer it.
